Effective 15 January 2004, the PS512M was replaced in the quotation process by A100-compatible versions of the PS100. To completely emulate the PS512M's capabilities, the PS100 must be fitted with an A100 Null Modem Port Adapter.
The PS512M was typically used at non-data-logger sites such as phone-to-RF base stations. It consisted of a sealed rechargeable battery, power supply/regulator, and null modem ports. Both 5 and 12 Vdc sources were provided for powering peripherals and external devices. The internal rechargeable battery (7.0 Ahr) was recharged by a solar panel or ac power.
Beginning October, 2004, the replacement battery for the PS512M was modified to have soldered leads rather than battery terminal clips.
PS512Ms with serial numbers less than 1712 required the 10704 power adapter when used with the COM200-series phone modems. This power adapter is no longer available.
