RAD06 and temperature/HR probe compatibility.

marlon.calispa Oct 31, 2017 10:44 AM

We would like to know if the RAD06 shield can be used with the CS215 HR/Temperature probe, anyone has experience on the field regarding the use of this type of shields?

Yes, the RAD06 is compatible with the CS215. It is listed as a common accessory on the CS215 product page.

The CS215 will fit in the RAD06 but will be subject to slightly higher errors than the RAD10.   This is because the smaller shields tend to be subject to slightly higher radiation errors as heating of the exposed surfaces at the top of the shield and the arm at the bottom can have more influence.   Also for the CS215 more of the body of the sensor sticks out of the bottom of the smaller shield.  When the sun angle is low this can lead to the bottom of the probe warming up and some of that heat can conduct to the temperature sensor at the tip leading to a small over-reading.
